I loved this shoot so much! It was a pleasure to spend some quality time with these guys. I’m looking forward to their beautiful wedding in 2013 at the foot of the Bicentennial Tower on the Erie Bayfront!

Here’s a little snippet of Kristen and Walter’s love story in her own words:

Walter and I met on a social networking site called deafpals.com. We both signed up for the site looking for people our age who shared similar life experiences (deaf/sign language/whatever). As soon as we starting talking, we clicked immediately. I cannot express how much easier life has ended up being by having someone there as my best friend and partner in life that knows how to communicate to my family.  (both of Kristen’s parents are deaf)

I believe that because we both know sign language and know deaf culture we have bonded in a way that we would have never bonded with anyone else. There are many times where we cannot express what we need to say in spoken words, but sign language always pulls through for us and keeps our relationship going.

When we met in Buffalo, NY for the first time it was like we had known each other for many years, our shared knowledge of sign language really helped us get comfortable with each other. ASL plays such a huge role in our relationship, it’s truly precious for both of us.

Emily and Derek were the first engagement session I did for this wedding season. We had so much fun and they were naturals in front of the camera. I’ve been looking forward to their wedding for a long time (not as long as they have, though!). I knew that Emily would be all about the pictures! We took a very scenic drive around East County and into Clymer, NY for their reception at the Peak, stopping for photo ops along the way. It was a lot of fun for me to get to work with the awesome bridal party for an extended period of time. Another cool bonus was meeting both families…they’re all awesome!
