About

ABOUTME

Hi. My name is Danielle. I take photos and design cool things. I take it seriously (because I love it so much). I also like to pretend someone is interviewing me so I can answer interesting questions:

WHATS YOUR DEAL?
I’ve been married to Dave since 2006. I have a little house near the lake that I LOVE and two kittens that I absolutely adore: Yoshi and Dolores. My deal also includes being a Christian. I’m not sure how to talk about the artistry and creativity that I bring to my work without talking about the source of it. It’s not a crutch: it’s a deeply-rooted faith. And I’m not about being against things. I truly believe that being a Christian is about what I am FOR: mercy, hope and love. I’m not perfect, and I dont try to be.

WHAT ARE THREE WORDS THAT PEOPLE USE TO DESCRIBE YOU?
I hate these kinds of questions. Ugh. OK, if I MUST: creative, loyal and witty.

THERE ARE A LOT OF PHOTOGRAPHERS OUT THERE. WHY YOU?
The truth is, pretty much anyone can snap pictures. I create art. I call my photography style “artistic documentary,” which basically means that I excel at capturing candid moments that will take your breath away. I also love setting up creative, unexpected group shots and portraits. No stiff necks and unnatural poses here! But, the short answer is, if you like what you see on this website, and you value art, we should work together.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE QUOTE?
Well, I’m obsessed with quotes, so this might be difficult. I’m gonna pick three:

“You dont have a soul. You ARE a soul. You have a body.” -C.S. Lewis

“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” -Scott Adams

“The public is never wrong. When people dont respond to what you do, they’re telling you something loud and clear. You’re just not listening.” -50CENT

DO YOU HAVE A GUILTY PLEASURE?
Does Bravo TV count? I hope so, cause that’s it: Real Housewives, Top Chef, etc. I also like to read young adult fiction (i.e. Harry Potter, Hunger Games, etc.). I’m a hot mess.

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF A PERFECT DAY?
My best days involve getting in a car with Dave and driving somewhere unexpected on a whim. We travel well.

WHATS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT AT A WEDDING?
My most treasured moment at a wedding is when I snap THE photo and no one even realizes it happened. There is always an unexpected moment that takes MY breath away. I capture it, squeeze my camera a little tighter, and smile. It’s a moment just for me. Some of those images are on the top of this page. I love them. Those moments are why I do this.

DO YOU HAVE ONE FAVORITE PICTURE THAT YOU’VE TAKEN?
I know that I should probably say no, but I’m going to be honest: I do have a favorite. It’s from the first wedding I ever photographed, and it’s the photo that made me fall in love with photography:

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I shoot with Canon cameras. My main workhorse is a Canon 5D Mark III. I use a variety of different lenses, but my favorite is the Canon 85mm f/1.2L II. It’s beautiful. I use Adobe Lightroom (a lot) and Photoshop (a little). Oh, and I’m a mac. We can still be friends if you have a PC.

WHY SHOULD I CARE ABOUT GOOD PHOTOGRAPHY AND/OR DESIGN?¬†Excellent photography is one of the most important investments you can make for your wedding or life event. When the music and memories have faded, nothing brings it all back like the perfect photo. It’s a major investment, there is no questions about that…but it’s worth it. At the end of the experience, you will have art to remember it by. It’s important, and you truly do get what you pay for.

Good design is the difference between being taken seriously and being dismissed as irrelevant. For businesses, it helps establish trust and whatever “feeling” you want associated with your company. For weddings, your invitation begins the story of your special day: it sets the tone.
